Meet Our Leadership Team

So Christ Himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip His people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up. -Ephesians 4:11-12

Pastor Mel Baga

Mel is a husband and a father of two. He has served as Auburn Church’s lead pastor since December 2016. He comes with a rich pastoral experience. Prior to coming to Northern California, he pastored for twenty years in Southern California—specifically in Southeastern California Conference territory (in San Bernardino, San Diego, and Orange Counties respectively). He graduated with his Master of Divinity degree and was ordained into the ministry in back-to-back weekends in 2003. He obtained his Doctor of Ministry degree from Andrews University in 2010. His dissertation focus was in preaching and congregational transformation. Mel is passionate about enriching and transforming individual and congregational life through the practice of the presence of God and the various disciplines of the spiritual life. He enjoys spending time with his family, reading, playing the classical guitar, and the great outdoors. He also likes to follow his favorite teams: the LA Lakers, San Diego Padres, and San Diego Chargers which he feels does not exist anymore. You can tell he’s still struggling with his favorite football team moving out of his home town.

Pastor Dana Rae De Tar

Pastor D-Rae shares her time, functioning as a Youth Pastor here at the Auburn SDA Church as well as the Director of Spiritual Life at Pine Hills Adventist Academy. She first began her career in youth ministry in 2016 after completing her BA in Religious Studies from Burman University, Canada, joining our pastoral staff in the fall of 2018. Together with her husband Seth, they are dedicated to developing meaningful relationships with our youth and introducing them to their Savior.

Steve Holm

“Some of my favorite joys in life are watching things appear from nothing and bloom into things of beauty. Whether it be the love of a wonderful partner, a life full of children, colorful flowers bursting forth from the ground in springtime or the birth and life of an amazing ministry inspired and guided by God’s hand, I am endlessly amazed how wonderful life can be. I have come to appreciate the guides I have had in life. A father who taught me the value of hard honest work, my father in law who helped me to understand his mantra to “just stay in service” and my bride who has been my personal guide leading me to a closer relationship with my heavenly Father. I believe in honesty, fairness and kindness at all times and, although I fall short often, I subscribe wholeheartedly to the essences of the verse below. “My children, let us not love with words or in talk only. Let us love by what we do and in truth.” -1 John 3:18 New Life Version (NLV)

Our church would not and could not operate smoothly and efficiently without the ministry of untold number of volunteers who give their precious time, energy, funds, and talents. They all show the seriousness we take in giving of ourselves to help make God’s mission and purpose for Auburn a reality.
